Hypnotherapy

How I discovered Hypnotherapy. What is Hypnotherapy and it's benefits? Misconceptions about Hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy

My path to discovering Hypnotherapy is one of my absolute favorite journeys because it was a very pivotal point of my life. While taking one of my Psychology classes for my degree, I came across a term that was used quite frequently: Neuroplasticity. In short, it is the brain’s ability to change, adapt and reorganize in order to rewire itself for different outcomes. An example of this would be someone that is naturally right handed, teaches themselves to write fluently with their left hand.
While I was learning about this subject, I was exposed to a brief understanding of Hypnotherapy but it was enough to peak my interest. And man oh man did I fall down the rabbit hole with this one. I had quickly started to research the in’s and out’s and had discovered an author and practitioner by the name of Dolores Cannon. Once I discovered her work of past life regressions and the incredible information she had acquired along with lives she had changed, I KNEW with every fiber in my being that I had to learn it.

Hypnotherapy is an extremely powerful tool that is utilized to uncover the root cause of deeply embedded beliefs and patterns. In the most logical sense, if you think of yourself like a computer, consider your belief system to be your software system. It was created when you were first built and through the first 7-8 years of your experiences on this Earth. Later on in life, we begin to notice certain patterns and habits that we either don’t agree with, or are simply over running our life. For example, if you were raised in a home that did not have healthy dynamics around food, then later in life you may find that you struggle with choosing healthy food or even struggle with body issues. Another example would be if you were raised in an environment where money was very scarce. This could manifest as poor spending habits as an adult or a scarcity mindset.
The goal of Hypnotherapy is to get to the root of these patterns within the subconscious mind so we can rewrite them in order to better serve your life. In essence we are updating the software system. If you have ever meditated or been walked through a guided meditation, it is very similar in style as the goal is to relax the logical left side brain in order to access the creative right.

Some of the main misconceptions around Hypnotherapy are derived from Hollywood and movies that we have been exposed to throughout our lives. As unfortunate as it is, Hollywood really gave Hypnotherapy a bad name because most movies portray individuals being “mind controlled” or made to quack like a duck. This is NOTHING like what Hypnotherapy truly is and just to clear the air, your mind is NEVER controlled during the process. In fact, you will always have an awareness of what is happening and you can quite literally choose to stop whenever you would like if you choose to do so.

If you have any questions or concerns about Hypnotherapy and what it entails, please reach out with questions so I can clear them up prior to working together.
